Foreign Policy Research Institute (FPRI)

Foreign Policy Research Institute (FPRI) was founded in 2006 as an integral part of the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine to conduct independent scientific research in the area of international relations, foreign policy, and international security. FPRI is directly run by Professor, Doctor of Political Sciences Grygoriy Perepelytsia.

The major objectives of FPRI functioning are the following:

  • Comprehensive research of the foreign policy of Ukraine;
  • Development of conceptual principles of the foreign policy of Ukraine, preparation of practical recommendations and forecasts on addressing pressing problems of contemporary international relations and foreign policy of Ukraine, as well as promotion of transparency and predictability of Ukrainian foreign policy;
  • Formation of positive international image of Ukraine on international arena.

Priority areas of scientific research:

  • Conceptual foundations of Ukraine's foreign policy;
  • Implementation of the Strategy for Euro-Atlantic and European Integration Policy of Ukraine;
  • Concept of the foreign policy course of Ukraine with regard to its strategic partners and neighboring countries;
  • International security issues in the OSCE area, incl. conflicts prevention and resolution, arms control, disarmament, and non-proliferation.

Major forms of activity:

  • Conducting of scientific research both upon own initiative and on order of state institutions of Ukraine, including MFA as a main contractor;
  • Development and realization of scientific projects;
  • Expert assessment of both national and international draft laws and regulations in the area of foreign policy and international security;
  • Publication of monographs and analytical reports;
  • Conducting of conferences, public lectures, seminars, and round tables;
  • Publication of the Annual strategic review "Foreign Policy: Strategic Assessments, Forecasts, and Priorities" and Quarterly publication "International review".

Since June 2012 FPRI under the auspices of the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine has been conducting applied research on implementation of the priorities and initiatives in strengthening European Security during Ukrainian OSCE Chairmanship, ordered by the MFA of Ukraine.

Since April 2012 – Associate Research Fellow, Foreign Policy Research Institute at the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine.
Since January 2015 – Cofounder and Coordinator of the international analytical platform East European Security Research Initiative – EESRI.    
Study: 1995-1997 – National Defence Academy of Ukraine, Master’s degree in military management;
1997-2000 – Joint Institute at the National Defence Academy of Ukraine, Master’s degree in international relations;
2001 –  Defence Resources Management Courses, DRMI, USA.
PhD degree in pol-mil science (2008).

Author of more than 40 scientific articles and co-author of 10 applied scientific researches on European security related issues.
