OSCE Network of Think Tanks and Academic Institutions
The Department for Strategic Studies and International Security is a part of the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies - one of the largest teaching and research units not only in Poland, but also throughout Central and Eastern Europe. It operates at one of the best universities in Poland, which is also the largest: the University of Warsaw.
The members of the Department have gained experience in academic work as well as in diplomacy and think tanks. Their research covers the areas: international security environment, Poland’s foreign and security policy, EU Eastern Partnership, international order, security institutions (inter alia: NATO, EU, OSCE), terrorism, cyber-threats, transatlantic relations, AI, international humanitarian law, human rights and criminal law.

Dr hab. Agnieszka Bieńczyk-Missala is assistant professor at the Institute of International Relations, Department of Political Science and International Studies, University of Warsaw; chairman of the scientific project Prevention of Massive Violations of Human Rights, financed by Poland’s National Scientific Centre (2013-2017); deputy director for academic research and international cooperation at the Institute of International Relations, University of Warsaw (2008-2012); analyst at the Polish Institute of International Affairs (2006-2008). She received her PhD from the University of Warsaw in 2004 (dissertation title: Human Rights in Poland’s Foreign Policy).
Areas of her research interest include: human rights, international humanitarian law, mass atrocities, humanitarian assistance, OSCE, Poland’s foreign policy.
