Centre for Strategic Research of Defence and Security at the UNWE, Sofia

The Centre was created in 1998. It is a part of the University of National and World Economy – the largest and the eldest higher educational institution of Economics in Bulgaria with a history of 95 years. The Centre works in the following main research areas: economic issues of security and defence, strategic management in security and defence, critical infrastructure protection, economic aspects of terrorism and counterterrorism, economic aspects of human trafficking, corporate security, nuclear security.

  • SfP-982063 Management of Security Related R&D in Support of Defence Industrial Transformation, in Cooperation with Defence College – Bucharest, European University – Skopje, ITIS at Federal Armed Forces University, Munich (financed by NATO Programme Science for Peace and Security| 2006 – 2009.
  • Policy on Public-Private Partnership in the Sector of Security and Defense, Based on Private Investment Activity, 2005 – 2006.

Dr. Tsvetan Tsvetkov was born in 1960 in Sofia – Bulgaria. He is Associate Professor at the University of National and World Economy, Department of National and Regional Security. He is also Vice Dean of the Faculty “Economics of Infrastructure”.

His main research interests are in the fields of management of innovation and investments, quantitative methods in management, project management, risk management and defence resources management. Dr. Tsvetkov participates in several national and international research projects.
