The OSCE and Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy at the University of Hamburg (IFSH), together with the Moscow State Institute for International Relations (MGIMO), the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) and the Vienna Centre for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation (VCDNP), are launching an essay competition to encourage innovative thinking and support a new generation of professionals studying challenges and opportunities related to conventional arms control and confidence- and security- building measures.

Students and young professionals who are nationals of OSCE participating States and Partners for Co-operation born after 1 January 1985 are invited to submit an original essay of 2500-4000 words on military security and related topics by 1 July 2020.

Three winners will receive cash prizes of up to €3,000, a certificate signed by the OSCE Secretary General, and an all-expenses-paid trip to Vienna to present their work at a meeting of the OSCE Forum for Security Co-operation.
